From outside, one would say that Ca Na Xini is a beautiful example of Minorca architecture, inherited from the British style which left its impression on the island since the XVIII the century. Large state houses, that are the farming and stockbreeding properties which partition is a good part of the land on the island. But few people know that it is an oddity, of Italian style, which is what, makes it unique. The surprise comes as we open the door, when we dive into a space of pure whites, all very avant-guard, which only contrasts with the views of the gardens from the windows, the wooden beams in the bedrooms, and the wooden floor boards. The whole space speaks of harmony with the environment, of silence or bird songs. We walk without any obstacles throughout the hotel, the gardens and the swimming pool, which contains semi salty water so as to avoid aggressive chemicals. Ca Na Xini reminds us every minute that Menorca is a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.
The whole of the ground floor and gardens of the hotel are accessible without any barriers. Accessible beach in Es Grau, with amphibian chairs, amphibian walking sticks and people to help in July and August. In any nautical station one can ask to rent an adapted sail boat or kayak.
In the hotel it is worth visiting the Mahon Designation of Origin cheese cellar and the wine cellar of the estate. And in the gardens we have a collection of avant-garde sculptures.
From Ferreires one can reach some of the islands´ most beautiful beaches, as are Cala Mitjana or the urbanized Cala Galdana on the south coast., and Cavallería, Cala Pregonda or Es Grau on the north coast. Nearby, in Cala Pilar (via footpath), having a mud bath is a classic. Outstanding Megalithic monuments are the Taulas of Torre Llafuda and Torre Trencada. By the coast is the Ecomuseu of Cap de Cavallería.
The Es Grau beach which is adapted, offers amphibian chairs and amphibian walking sticks, and helpers during the summer. In Minorca the marinas have 11 adapted kayaks and 2 adapted sailboats available.
We are from Ferreires nearly as close to the best coves of the south (Macarella, Turqueta or Son Saura) as we are of those in the North: Cala Pilar, with its red mud, very close to the hotel. Another obliged visit is to the megalithic settlements scattered round the country side.
And do not forget the Cova d´en Xoroi, a disco bar in a cave overlooking an impressive cliff. On the 24th of June, Saint John, Ciutadella celebrates its most universal feasts, with the jumps of the “Jaleo” horses amongst thousands of people who surround them. A similar feast repeats itself during the summer in every village. Mahón, on the opposite side of the island, with its beautiful port and its neighbour Es Castell, is an obliged visit too.

Ca Na Xini's passion for the countryside and its fruits is present at table. They themselves are cheese producers of typical Mahón cheese and outstanding Minorca Wine both with place of origin certifications. In Ca Na Xini we are offered a complete picnic prepared every morning enabling us to enjoy a whole days´ outing to the Mediterranean’s most virgin beaches, with no interruptions. In the evenings, if we do not wish to leave the estate, we are offered a simple menu, prepared with fresh products, served on the terrace of the main garden. (Diner service is offered 3 nights a week, normally Monday, Wednesday and Friday/Saturday).
The “ensaimada” is the most typical sweet. We can also buy “sobrasada”. And “abarcas” typical Minorcan sandals.
