Posada De La Panadería De Castañeda

The Hotel

It no longer smells of baking bread in this beautiful inn, except for at breakfast time, but it smells of garden and one can hear the sound of the river. The hotel we are staying in was the bakery which supplied bread to most of the lower valleys of el Pas. Erected in 1850 the building has the old carriage entrance giving onto the main street of the village, and one can enjoy the large garden which after a steep walk through a small wood of bamboo ends down by the water. There is a bench down below on the beautiful river bank, where one can spend some time. Its seven bedrooms and the great library living room are flooded with whiteness, light, happiness, beams, dawn as well, not to lose a ray of light coming through. Maria and Alejandro have created their family space by the hotel, and their personal care is an added value of this House. Breakfast is served in the dining room, a cozy space in ochre giving on to the garden through a big window. It is one of those welcoming hotels where one is so comfortable one feels like doing nothing.

Accessibility

There is an ample room, with adapted bathroom, on the ground floor. Signage in Brail and relief in various places around the hotel, also in the rooms, to help people with low vision or blind. Except for the way down to the river bank, the garden and the common areas in the hotel are convenient for wheel chairs. Should you need, for your comfort, a room adapted to reduced vision or mobility please say so when making your reservation.
